beCPG’s PLM Simplifies Packaging Declaration

By 20 March 2024No Comments

Packaging declaration obligations to eco-organizations are common in various countries. Consequently, beCPG PLM has developed a feature that simplifies this process, seamlessly integrating product packaging management for effortless declaration data export.

Particularly in France, the eco-organization Citeo mandates specific requirements for annual packaging contributions. This obligation requires companies that market their products in France to submit detailed reports on their packaging materials. This stipulation extends to international companies distributing products within the French market, highlighting the necessity for a solution like beCPG that facilitates compliance across borders with minimal effort.

Accessing CITEO Data in beCPG

To export your product packaging information, data regarding the different packaging layers must be entered or interfaced within the application.

Therefore, a Citeo export feature is available for all your finished products in beCPG, regularly updated to reflect Citeo’s ongoing changes, such as new material additions. Moreover, your product data automatically populates the document upon generation, compiling in an Excel file the details of each product and its packaging material quantities.

Where to Enter Packaging Data in beCPG PLM?

Initially, you can enter a list of packagings linked to a product. However, this list is not limited to the sales unit. In fact, it can include secondary and tertiary layers (logistics units, palletization, etc.). Also, by using a packaging kit, you can group multiple items into a single unit.

Upon the addition of packagings to the product, their composition can be delineated in the “Materials” list.

Afterwards, beCPG calculates the data related to the eco-packaging tax, such as the weight per material according to CITEO categories.

The Advantages of the Materials Export Feature for Global Packaging Compliance

The utility of beCPG’s PLM extends beyond France. In fact, obligations for packaging declarations are common across various countries, each with its eco-organizations. In the global effort to reduce environmental impact and waste, different countries have introduced regulations for packaging materials. For instance, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom have implemented measures to regulate packaging and introduced taxes on plastic packaging to encourage sustainability and reduce plastic waste.

Therefore, whether adapting to Citeo’s latest material categories or compiling comprehensive material lists for different packaging layers, the software streamlines the declaration process. This makes it then an essential tool for businesses navigating the complexities of global environmental compliance. In essence, maintaining detailed records enables businesses to demonstrate their compliance with the packaging regulations set forth by various authorities.
