The GDSN (Global Data Synchronization Network) is a set of certified and interconnected data sources. These data sources are populated and used by all actors of the production and distribution chain. GS1 product data contains many technical, marketing and logistical data.
GS1, formerly known as Gencod, is a normalization organization tasked with source certification and standard elaboration.
Many companies working in food processing or cosmetics are already cooperating with GS1, in the United States or the European Union.
The bar code identification system is an integral part of this ecosystem, using equivalence between the GTIN and bar codes.

Why use the GS1 standard?
The GDSN standard eases data flows between stakeholders, which saves time and increases reliability.
The expected content is first established (in exemple the net weight of a product) then the exchange format (formulating weights in grams). With this system of product information management, it is now possible to group data flows.
No more constraints with beCPG:
- Save all the GS1 product data in beCPG
- Optimize your processes with the project management tool and our data control system
- Share your data, internally, with suppliers and customers
Use the GS1 product data standard
beCPG is a mutualised system for product life cycle management, from creation to sales. It gathers all data produced within the company.
The product life cycle requires input from different services (R&D, quality, marketing…). These informations are integrated in beCPG and can be sorted in several categories:
- Identification data : EAN code, trademark…
- Product properties & legal data : allergens, claims, nutriscore, nutrients, net weight, ingredients, origin…
The formulation system is able to automatically calculate some of the properties and legal data of a finished product from its ingredients (eg: nutritional values, allergens, claims, …).
- Logistical information : pallet, mixed shipping, secondary packagings….
Product | Minimal sale unit (in exemple a jar of jam)
Pack | Intermediate pack containing a single type of products.
Case | Shipping unit containing a single type of products, which may be grouped in packs.
Mixed case | Shipping unit containing several types of products, which may be grouped in packs.
Pallet | Shipping unit containing a single type of products, which may be grouped in packs and cases.
Mixed pallet | Shipping unit containing several types of products, which may be grouped in packs and cases.
Display | Shipping unit containing a ready to use display |
- Images of product
beCPG manages media such as images. You can therefore manage the visuals of the products (front view, side view, top view, …).
All of this data is available on the product sheet and it is possible to add properties specific to your company for the management of your internal process.
Set up projects to organize your process
To handle the input tasks, beCPG uses a project management module. You can set up a planning and assign tasks to users:

Control data completion

The catalog signals to users which are the important fields to fill and unrespected constraints.

You can view the progress of the new product development process and the completion of data in real time.
Link your data with other softwares
It is possible to integrate beCPG with your internal softwares (eg: CRM, ERP) through rest API (json/xml format) or csv connectors. When all GS1 product data is completed, it is automatically transferred to external GS1 portals.
Here is the list of GS1 or PIM solutions already interoperable with beCPG: Equadis, A3PIM, @GP, Synkka, Atrify, Alkemics…
