Packaging and eco-design in your PLM

The same packaging data, asked for three times

Purchasing, quality and your eco-organization ask for the same packaging data, in three formats, twice a year. Then the regulation changes.

beCPG holds it once. Describe your packaging, linked to the products that use it: materials, weights, recyclability and environmental scores are calculated from it.

Your packaging, structured once

  • Packaging levels: primary, secondary and tertiary, with tare, gross weight, type and dimensions.
  • Packaging kits and palletization: layers per pallet, cases per layer and per pallet, inherited by the finished product. The palletization plan appears on the production sheet.
  • Multi-level packaging bill of materials (26.10), with the components, the supplier packaging, and the tare and materials calculated.
  • Materials per finished product: weight per material, by category, with the geographical origin of the materials (26.10).

Calculated, not retyped

Your packaging is linked to the products that use it. When a supplier changes the weight or the material of a pack, beCPG lists every finished product concerned, and the indicators are recalculated.

The same works in reverse: simulate a packaging change on a product before you commit to it, without touching the reference product.

PPWR recyclability grade calculated in beCPG PLM, with Nutri-Score and other scores of the product

PPWR and AGEC indicators

  • PPWR recyclability (26.10): grade A, B, C or not recyclable, weighted by material and by packaging level, with its breakdown.
  • Recycled content and recyclability rate calculated from the materials.
  • Hazardous substances brought up from the packaging, nested packaging included.
  • AGEC: sorting information (Triman, Info-tri) and environmental claims kept with the product.
  • Citeo export in one click for your annual household and professional declarations in France.

Eco-design: the impact before you commit

  • Life cycle assessment of the product: raw materials, recipe, packaging and processes, with your own indicators, such as climate change in CO2 equivalent.
  • European PEF method for the environmental score, and import of the ADEME Agribalyse data.
  • Green-Score (formerly Eco-Score), Planet-Score and Ecobalyse for food, Green Impact Index for cosmetics, with the detail of the calculation.
  • Environmental impact dashboard by product type, site or material origin.

Beyond declarations

Packaging specifications are generated from the same data, with your templates. The packaging bill of materials can be sent to SAP.

Artwork is stored and versioned with the product, and Chef AI compares a proof with the specification before it goes to print, so the pack that ships matches the data you declared.

Why act now

The European packaging regulation (PPWR), the French AGEC law and extended producer responsibility all ask for data most manufacturers keep in spreadsheets, per plant and per customer. The hard part is not the report: it is having the data structured when the deadline arrives.

Packaging and eco-design: frequently asked questions

Does beCPG calculate PPWR recyclability?

Yes. From version 26.10, beCPG calculates a recyclability grade (A, B, C or not recyclable) weighted by material and by packaging level, with its breakdown. A grade entered by hand is kept.

Can beCPG prepare our Citeo declaration?

beCPG exports the packaging data of your products for the annual household and professional Citeo declarations: materials, weights and quantities per sales unit.

Which environmental scores are calculated?

Green-Score (formerly Eco-Score), Planet-Score, Ecobalyse and the Green Impact Index for cosmetics, and a life cycle assessment with the European PEF method, using Agribalyse data.

Does it work for cosmetics packaging?

Yes. Packaging levels, materials, recyclability and the Green Impact Index work the same way for cosmetics and personal care products.
